Apple Dumplings, Our Speciality

We are primarily an apple orchard with a bakery which specializes in apple related items. We are best known for our "Famous Apple Dumplings". Each year we have an Apple Dumpling festival on the first Saturday in Oct. If you missed our festival, you can still get them by coming out to our orchard or by ordering over the phone. The apple dumplings are available all year along with other items. It is best to call ahead to reserve them before you come.

What is an Apple Dumpling?

We produced our first dumplings in the fall of 1992. Since then we have continued to improve them.

It is an apple which is peeled, sliced and cored, with some sugar and cinnamon sprinkled on the apple, wrap in a piece of pie dough, placed in a baking pan, covered with a sugar, cinnamon, margarine and water sauce, last sprinkled with a sugar cinnamon glaze, and baked in an oven at 350 degrees for 1 hour.

How to ship apple dumplings across the county?

We had been thinking about how to ship our dumplings before we received the call from Food Finds in May 2001. The original idea was to shipment 4 apple dumpling frozen ready to bake. However, after we established the shipping weight and investigated the cost to ship overnite, who would pay $50 dollars for 4 apple dumplings. With additional testing we decided to ship the dumplings unbaked with 2 day service. The shipping cost are high but reasonable.

The dumplings can be purchased in Four (4) ways;

1. Baked and packaged in a carryout container in quantities of 1, 2 or 4 dumplings from our farm market bakery.
2. Apple dumplings frozen "RTB" ready to bake, packaged in quantities of 2 or 4 from our farm market bakery.

We use 2 sizes of apples for our dumpling. The standard size equals 100 apples to the bushel, while the export(shipped) is larger, equals 80 apples to the bushel.
